Should we print in 1.75mm or 3mm filament?

I'm buying a new extruder for my prusa i3v and I'm trying to decide whether I should get a 1.75mm or a 3mm extruder. What do you guys suggest?

I use 3mm, but I honestly don't think it matters. As long as it will extrude without jamming you are golden.
