In Elite Dangerous I just had to go in to the control settings and find the configurations for lateral thrust, vertical thrust, and throttle. There were axis controls for each that when clicked for configuration allowed me to just move the Delta on one of those axis to pick up the correct config.

I had to set pretty big dead zones at first to get the hang of the control. I've started to back those down a little in recent days.

To test it you can search for "joystick" or "USB Game Controller" in windows search and it will bring up the windows joystick configuration utility, then you can hit properties to view all of the axes.

In star citizen, you want to go to the controller settings, then go over to key bindings, then move the selector arrows over to joystick and press advanced controls customization. Since you now have two joysticks installed you are going to have to rebind both. It is pretty self explanatory, the only thing that could trip you up is for each strafe axis there is an option for "strafe left", "strafe right", and "strafe left/right". You want to pick "strafe left/right" and ignore the other two.

I loved the control of my ship!

I was terribly clumsy but aren't we all with something new?
Increasing the dead zone helped a bit but I now want to dial it back in.
I have to come up with new strategies now to utilize the maneuverability.

I am working on a redesign right now and I am curious to see your redesign as well zdayton
