Looking awesome! How do you plan to have the pivot arms cut? 2 operations? The fact it's not just a 2/2.5d shape makes things a bit more complicated. That's why for my design I just used a piece of solid shaft for the cross piece.

What size tap are you using to thread the aluminum? I went with a standard 4-40 tap for my first build as I'd bought the recommended screws for the printed version. I found the 4-40 taps to be quite fragile, ended up snapping 3 of them. I was going to get a thread forming (rather than thread cutting) tap for future use.

Do you plan to anodize the parts red?

Each pivot is made out of 3 pieces

2x7mm (outer pieces) and 1x11mm (middle one)

One hexagonal f/f 25mm spacer will be used as a bridge between them while I glue everything together. Spacer will provide threads as well (M3).

I do want to anodize them red but I don't know if that would be too extreme. I even want to put leather on handle :)

Thoughts?

What about an automotive upholstery shop, can't be very different from wrapping a gear shifter knob in leather
