It does look awesome!!!

Spoke with a metal fabricator who uses lasers and they wanted to much money and pushed that I used only 1/8 materials. What he wanted to charge I could purchase a band saw, a 4 x 36 with 6" disc table sander, taping tools set, a milling vice, plus enough aluminum materials to make 10 throttles out of 1/4" plate and 3/8" by 3/4" bars.

So I picked up a table sander, taping set, and the band saw arrived yesterday, BTW Skill is offering $15 off until June 22 for father's day on all products over $75 USD. Haven't used a band saw in 30 years... cutting the handle bases was a learning experience.

I'm using a straight 3/8" by 3/4" by 3 inch bars, attaching a 3/8" x 1/2 " L beam to the arm to hold the spring, have to figure out how long to make them. I also will attach blocks for stoppers. Using 1/4 " by 1" round spacer with 4-40 threads. The bottom hole of the arm will be 3/8" hole, the top will be 1/4" hole. I might mill out the middle of the arm to lighten it. Maybe fabricate spacers for the top with the round spacer as SC-Maik did.

Found tubing that has a ID .145 hole. I'm still waiting for my X-Y milling vice to arrive to use with my drill press. With this tubing I will drill a 1/4" hole to fit a hall effect pot. I plan on drilling 2 holes to place 6-32 set screws to hold the pot arm to the rod. The other setup will use A1302 Hall Effect Sensor. Will drill out 5/32 hole to hold the diametrical magnets in the rods for that build.

I still need to create boards for the ALLEGRO MICROSYSTEMS A1302 5 Volt 10 mA Hall Effect Sensor. That will be a new experience for me...

Thx1821 - I already purchased enough vinyl to cover the handle and base. Was thinking of creating a cover like ones found on stick shifts. ;-)

Very cool !

Edit/ My first thought was " I gota get me some of those " then that little voice in my head said " dumb ass your a wood turner this is like turning a pen " Anyway I think that's a good idea and I'm gonna do it, I have stacks of wood from all over the world, think in can find something appropriate . I don't make pens but I fooled around with it and have all the stuff, I may need to find 7 mm shafts.
If your woundering here's a link some hand turned pens .

Can I order some out of ebony :)

Spring anchors from Amazon arrive tomorrow. I have to laser cut a new aluminum base in order to use them.

New design of base

New rod ends.

The reason I wanted to replace traxxas 5525 is that hollow balls are not the same on all of them.

Also, after testing 4 different springs of various lengths and specifications, this is the final spring for Z-Axis

Love the new tweaks to the original design that you've made! I think I am definitely going to add that centering spring to mine when I have the throttle apart for the handle v.2.0 upgrade!
